All-Sports trophy stays at home

The Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Sports trophy

For the second consecutive year, Moraine Valley held onto the Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference All-Sports Award, edging out rival Waubonsee Community College by one point.

It's been a solid academic year for Cyclones Athletics, with women's basketball taking the conference and region titles while men's basketball, softball and volleyball finished second in conference.

This is the 12th time the college has won the trophy since 2004, recognizing the collective achievements of a college's sports teams, adding another layer of competitiveness amongst the schools.

Each of the eight colleges in the conference is awarded points based on its teams' eight highest finishes at the end of the year. Moraine Valley came ahead of Waubonsee 40-39.

The conference competition is consistently intense, making this coveted trophy a prize of grit, dedication and ultimate triumph. The collective efforts of skilled athletes, coaches and staff highlighted the athletic legacy at Moraine Valley.

"Every year, it's a close battle to win the All-Sports trophy, but Moraine Valley came out ahead victorious again thanks to our gifted athletes, coaches and leaders," said General McArthur III, Moraine Valley Athletics director. "Having this trophy remain in our possession represents our tenacity, focus and drive for excellence. I'm proud of our student-athletes and staff for continuing this legacy."
