Even after scoring more runs than is typical in several games combined, the Cyclones came up short against Kankakee Community College, falling 27-22.
Michael Fiedor (3-for-4) had quite the game at the plate, hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs while his team collected 18 hits overall.
The Cyclones got on the board in the top of the first inning after an error scored one run. Jared Velez (2-for-4, 3 RBIs) hit an RBI double before Preston Lund (2-for-6, 5 RBIs) hit a two-run triple and a wild pitch scored another one. They added five more runs in the second inning on three hits – a three-run homerun from Fiedor and two-run double from Lund.
The Cavaliers had a 14-run inning in the fifth to take a 19-15 lead, but the Cyclones tied it in their next at-bat thanks to a single from Valente Melero (3-for-5, HR, 3 RBIs), a sac fly from Fiedor and single from Velez. However, more big hits from the Cavaliers saw the Cyclones in another 27-19 hole.
Moraine Valley tacked on another run in the eighth inning from an RBI single from Fiedor and then two more in the following inning on a two-run homerun from Melero, but it wasn't enough in this run-heavy game.
