Opening day statement

The Cyclones made a statement in their home and season opener with a message to watch out.

Facing Governors State University JV, the Cyclones may have gone down early but they only needed a few minutes to warm up to get ahead of the Jaguars. Although Moraine Valley held a lead, the Jaguars were never far behind. It wasn't until later in the second half where the Cyclones pulled away for the ultimate 107-81 victory.

The Cyclones outpaced the Jaguars, especially points in the paint 50-22 as well as stealing 12 as opposed to Governors' four. Leading the charge was a dominant TJ Lee with 28 points, 18 of which came from three-pointers. Reggie Strong added 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. Frank DeCarlo and Grantas Sakenis each contributed 14 points while Josh Lawson scored 12. Ali Oralkan led under the basket with 11 rebounds.
