If the Cyclones had looked solely at College of Lake County's overall record, they might have thought this matchup was an easy win, but it was anything but. Moraine Valley didn't pull away until late in the second half for the 73-63 victory.
In the first nine minutes of the game, the Cyclones were down by as much as four as the Lancers scored consistently while Moraine Valley missed a handful of shots. It wasn't until Josh Lawson sunk two free throws halfway through the first half that the Cyclones regained the lead. They went on a short run with a three from Ja'Ron Powell, a bucket from Ali Oralkan and a free throw from TJ Lee to give the Cyclones a seven-point lead. By halftime, the Cyclones were up 32-27.
The Lancers battled back in the second half, getting within one before the Cyclones put the pressure on. The scoring efforts of Lawson, Grantas Sakenis, Reggie Strong and Oralkan in the final minutes catapulted them ahead for the 10-point win and an undefeated Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference record (4-0).
Oralkan led with 24 points while Strong and Yousef Jarad each collected 10 and Lawson finished with nine.
