The intensity of the matchup between the Cyclones and the South Suburban College Bulldogs was palpable as soon as the tipoff knocked the ball into play. It began as a balanced affair, but the Cyclones lost steam in the second half for the ultimate loss.
The Cyclones jumped ahead first against an intense Bulldogs squad, getting up 9-1 and putting a strain on their opponents' offensive attempts and frustrating the nationally ranked team. Both teams continued to push and the Bulldogs slowly built up their cache of points, countering the Cyclones in the final minutes. A three-pointer at the buzzer gave the Bulldogs a 38-37 going into halftime.
In the second half, it seemed as if the Bulldogs never missed a three-pointer or free throw while the Cyclones became inconsistent with their shots. Once the Cyclones were down, they struggled to catch up. A few scoring runs from the Bulldogs shut down the Cyclones in their ultimate 92-79 loss.
TJ Lee and Josh Lawson led the attempt with 17 points each while Yousef Jarad collected 12 points and Ja'Ron Powell had 10.
