In their season opener, the Cyclones saw a freshman score his first college goal in a 4-1 loss to Kankakee Community College.

Both teams were scoreless for the initial 13 minutes until Kankakee struck first. Moraine Valley ultimately tied the game after freshman Jesus Villanueva found the net for his first official college goal. However, the Cavaliers scored the go-ahead goal before halftime, and the Cyclones were unable to counter.
