The misty air couldn't stop the Cyclones in their opening game of the season with Joliet Junior College. The weather may have cut the doubleheader to one game, but the Cyclones still came ahead 8-4.
The Wolves got out to an early lead, giving the Cyclones a 2-0 deficit to start. But the Cyclones bats came alive in the third inning after Brooklynn Sedlak (4-for-4, 2 RBIs) singled down the left field line and Estelle Loth (1-for-4, 2 RBIs), Haley Tracy (2-for-4, RBI) and Teagan Krzystof (1-for-3, RBI) each doubled to take a 4-2 lead. Although the Wolves attempted to comeback in later innings, the Cyclones tacked on a few more runs to stay ahead for their first win of the season.
Sedlak started the game on the mound, surrendering seven hits and three runs over five innings while striking out three. The Cyclones amassed 14 hits. Loth and Sedlak were the one-two punch in the lineup, each driving in two runs this game. Annabelle Rush (2-for-5), Abbey Mrskos (2-for-4, RBI) and Tracy each also collected multiple hits in this victory.
