Due to field conditions, the Cyclones played their home games down the street at the Stagg High School field as they faced McHenry County College, taking two games in the close doubleheader.
GAME ONE
Down most of this first game, the Cyclones had one final push in the sixth inning to score all their runs in the 3-2 victory. They outhit the Scots 8-4.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Annabelle Rush (1-for-2) got on base with a walk before Teagan Krzystof (1-for-2) moved her to third on a double. Jill Zodrow (2-for-4, 2 RBIs) tied the game when she drove in two runs on a double to left field. Londynn Sedlak (2-for-4, RBI) scored the go-ahead run on a hard single to center field. In the circle, Kasey Jackson earned the win, allowing just four hits and striking out five.
GAME TWO
The Cyclones made another late surge, pushing into extra innings, to capture the 6-5 victory.
It wasn't until the top of the sixth, with the Cyclones down 4-0, that they got on the board. After Megan Hackett (3-for-5) and Keira Clancy (3-for-4, RBI) singled, Zodrow (3-for-5, 2 RBIs) drove them both in on a single to right field. The Cyclones secured three quick outs when the Scots came to the plate and tied the game in the seventh with two more runs. Estelle Loth (2-for-4) got on with a grounder that forced a fielding error and scored on a single from Haley Tracy (1-for-5, RBI). Hackett came up, singled and scored on a single from Clancy.
Going into the eighth inning, Krzystof was placed at second base to start and another fielding error off a pop fly from Zodrow allowed the go-ahead run. Londynn Sedlak scored some insurance with a ground out that scored Zodrow. Although the Scots scored one more in their final at-bat, the Cyclones stopped any additional scoring for the win.
Abbie Trendle led things off in the circle, giving up two hits and three runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. Tracy collected the save after four innings, allowing two runs and striking out five.
