Cyclones fall short

A Moraine Valley softball catcher waits for a ball.

The Cyclones nearly split their doubleheader with Waubonsee Community College but came up just short in the end.

GAME ONE
The Cyclone bats were silenced in this first 8-0 loss, as they only mustered three hits all from the Sedlak sisters. Brooklyn Sedlak singled in the second and fourth innings while Londynn Sedlak singled in the third.

GAME TWO
The bats made a resurgence for the Cyclones in this second game as they outhit the Chiefs 12-7.

After a quick three outs for the Chiefs, Moraine Valley scored when Jill Zodrow (2-for-5) and Brooklynn Sedlak (1-for-4) singled and Estelle Loth (3-for-4, 2 RBIs) drove in the first run on a single to left field. The Chiefs bounced back with a string of hits to go up 3-1 in the top of the third. Between a few more at-bats, the Cyclones tied the game thanks to an RBI single from both Loth and Haley Tracy (2-for-3, RBI), forcing the game into extra innings.

Heading into the eighth inning, a runner was automatically placed at second, but the Cyclones forced two quick outs. However, a fielding error and hard grounder allowed one run to score before the Chiefs knocked in two more runs on a homerun. When the Cyclones came up to bat with a runner put on second, Keira Clancy (1-for-4, RBI) doubled to score that run and get within two of the Chiefs. Abbie Trendle (2-for-4, stolen base) then doubled to put runners at the corners. However, the Cyclones were unable to capitalize on scoring after that for the 6-4 loss.
