As soon as it started, the women's tennis season culminated at the NJCAA Region 4 Championship, at Park Forest Health and Tennis Club, Oct. 10 and 11, where the Cyclones finished fifth overall.
Down a player, the Cyclones had some battles throughout both days, especially Marietta Farraj and Tamera Farraj. Making it to the championship round for No. 6 singles, Tamera Farraj fell to a tough foe from Illinois Valley Community College (1-6, 1-6) for runner-up. The Farraj sisters also made it to the championship match at No. 3 doubles, falling to McHenry County College 3-6, 2-6, but taking second overall in the region. Sydney Rutkowski (No. 3 singles), Eliza Janik (No. 4 singles) and Marietta Farraj (No. 5 singles) each finished in fourth place.
"The Farraj sisters deserve this success. They always show up, and it's why they went far at regionals. I'm super proud and happy for them," said Head Coach Simona Tomczak.
