Alumna takes over volleyball program

Like so many athletic alumni, Jaelyn Donald moved on from Moraine Valley yet yearned to return to the campus community some day. That time has finally come.

Donald was hired as the volleyball head coach in spring 2025. She competed for her alma mater during the 2021 and 2022 seasons, helping her 2022 team win an Illinois Skyway Collegiate Conference and NJCAA Region 4 championship before competing in the national tournament, where the team finished 13th overall. That same season, Donald earned nods to the All-Conference second team. Her freshman year, Donald earned All-Conference second team and All-Region honors.

After receiving an associate degree from Moraine Valley, Donald transferred to Indiana University Northwest, where she continued her education and volleyball career. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in general studies.

"It feels great to be back. I've always wanted to be back at Moraine Valley and be a coach. I'm super excited to get closer with the staff and embark on this good opportunity," she said.

Now in charge of this program that has a legacy of high achievement, Donald is eager to continue that tradition and build a strong, successful team.

"I'm excited for this new chapter," she declared. "I'm hoping to get the team to nationals, and I know I have the potential to make it happen."
