Cyclones grab a win at tri-match

The Cyclones avenged an earlier season loss while battling through another match during the Kankakee Tri-Match at Kankakee Community College.

Their first matchup was against Carl Sandburg College, a team that swept them a week earlier. They kept up with the Chargers, even after going down 1-2 early on, but ultimately dealt a crushing blow in the fifth set for the victory: 25-22, 23-25, 15-25, 25-23, 15-3. Chloe McGregor-Paterson led with 26 kills and added 18 digs while Amanda Pocica led with 28 digs. Cameron Szyszka had a high 43 assists, adding 13 digs and 10 kills to her total. Amber Kingston collected 17 digs and 11 kills while Tegan Colyer added 17 digs.

Although the Cyclones had more fight in them while facing Kellogg Community College, they were unable to get over the hump in the 3-0 loss (18-25, 15-25, 20-25). Pocica had 20 digs this match while Szyszka contributed 22 assists. Keira Clancy collected eight kills.

The final match of the day was against the host school, Kankakee Community College, where the Cyclones were just edged out in the fifth set: 15-25, 26-24, 17-25, 25-16, 12-15. McGregor-Paterson amassed 20 kills and 18 digs; Pocica had 31 digs; Kingston had 18 kills and 10 digs; Szyszka collected 43 assists, 16 digs and 10 kills; and Colyer added 12 digs this match.
