Still down a few runners, the Cyclones raced three across the 6K course among four-year college and university teams at the Gil Dodds Invitational at St. James Farm in Warrenville.
"Our three women ran very well. Going from meets that have less than 100 runners to a meet that has 200-plus runners brings with it a different type of racing, and they stepped up to the challenge," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas.
Eva Zimmerman crossed the line in 24:21.50 in 49th place out of 223 runners. Following her was Rylee Milenkovic (26:35.80, 127th) and Fernanda Cabrera (27:47.00, 156th).
"Eva and Rylee ran two of the fastest times our program has had on that course, which was a fun thing to witness," Dimizas said. "There is still plenty of room for growth, and we'll have more runners ready in two weeks, so that will make things very interesting the rest of the season."
