In one of their biggest races of the season, the Cyclones ran a full team to finish 19th out of 21 college and university teams with four runners earning PRs at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria.
As she has all season, Eva Zimmerman led the pack across the finish line in 24:55.69 for 116th place out of 220 finishers. Coming in after her was a tight trio of Mia Villa (26:44.05, 165th place), Rylee Milenkovic (26:44.50, 166th place) and Fernanda Cabrera (27:03.48, 176th place) along with Desiree Mendoza (30:59.00, 205th place) and Guadalupe Marquez (32:54.78, 213rd place). All but Zimmerman and Milenkovic ran a PR, however, this was their second fastest race this season.
"The women all ran really well. Eva and Rylee have been our consistent performers, and while it wasn't their fastest race, they have a lot of positives to take away from this and learn from heading into next weekend," said Head Coach Dimitri Dimizas. "It was nice to have our full team race again. Everyone ran their best, which is what we'll need if we want to have a chance to repeat as region champions. Our focus is going to be getting all the women to the start line as healthy as possible."
