Running on a 12-game winning streak with an undefeated home record, the Cyclones took a narrow 73-67 victory from the visiting Kankakee Community College Cavaliers.
Moraine Valley went on a 7-0 run to start the game before the Cavaliers came to life and came within three. By the end of the first half, the Cyclones led 35-24. The fourth quarter saw a surge from the Cavaliers as they outscored the Cyclones 17-5 and took a one-point lead. However, the Cyclones offense bounced back with a 7-0 run. Kankakee ended up tying the game but with steals and buckets by Jadea Johnson and Laila Houseworth down the stretch, that helped give Moraine Valley the edge.
Johnson led the offense with 28 points and four steals. Shakila Brownlow added 18 points and four assists. Another dominating defensive effort from Mikayla Summey yielded 15 rebounds and five blocked shots. Trajany Walker added plenty on the glass with 12 rebounds.
