Right out of the gate, the Cyclones took possession and never looked back in an 88-71 victory over South Suburban College.
Although the Bulldogs posed some offensive threats, the Cyclones doubled down with their own scoring strength, starting the game with a 12-0 run. That momentum continued into the second quarter when Laila Houseworth scored 13 points, nine of which were from three-pointers, to go up 44-30 at halftime.
In the second half, the Cyclones remained consistent and didn't allow the Bulldogs to go on a run until the final minutes of the game. Danielle Dempsey had a run of her own in the final quarter, scoring all 11 of her points, nine of which were from three-pointers.
Houseworth led in scoring with 21 points and added seven assists and four steals. Jadea Johnson contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Dempsey had 11 points while Shakila Brownlow added 10. Trajany Walker was a force under the basket with 10 rebounds.
