The Cyclones retained their national ranking after edging past Rock Valley College in one of their toughest matchups of the season.
This was a close game throughout each quarter. The Cyclones took an early lead and led 20-11 at the end of the first quarter, however, the Golden Eagles battled back for a one-point lead at halftime. The score remained close until the fourth quarter when the Cyclones were able to pull away in the final minutes thanks to some huge free throws from Jadea Johnson and a steal to stop the Golden Eagles from scoring at the end, giving Moraine Valley the 72-68 victory.
Defense was clutch in this game as the Cyclones held the Golden Eagles to 30% overall from the floor and 13% from the three-point line. Big scoring from Johnson and Laila Houseworth (nine rebounds), who each collected 21 points, also helped the Cyclones. Shakila Brownlow added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
