Still alive in the consolations

After a rough start to nationals, the Cyclones went back to their winning ways, taking a 77-69 win against a tough Lincoln Land Community College team.

Heading into this game, the Cyclones were ranked No. 20 while the Loggers were No. 8 in NJCAA Division II. The first two quarters gave the Cyclones some trouble as they trailed 10 points at halftime. But they bounced back. Moraine Valley changed their defense, and the Loggers were unable to adjust. While holding Lincoln Land to just 27 points for those final 20 minutes, the Cyclones found their old scoring selves and produced better shots for the ultimate victory.

"We regrouped against Lincoln Land, and at one point they were nationally ranked No. 6," said Head Coach Delwyn Jones. "We played well like we know how against them."

Jadea Johnson was back to putting up big points, collecting 28 in this game and grabbing seven rebounds and three steals. Laila Houseworth went 4-for-4 from the free-throw line and added 18 points along with six steals. Under the basket, Mikayla Summey and Trajany Walker each had nine rebounds.
