After a tough battle, the Cyclones ended their run at nationals in a 77-60 loss to the Schoolcraft College Ocelots.
It had already been a long week for the Cyclones as they faced a physically aggressive opponent. Both teams stayed close in the first half, with Moraine Valley only trailing 42-36. Fouls and missed free throws, however, became the Cyclones Achilles' heel down the stretch.
"They were more physical than us, and we were roughed up after the first two games," explained Head Coach Delwyn Jones. "Our post players battled because the game was close most of the time. They wore us down in the fourth quarter, but this game was much closer than the final tally. We gave everything we had."
Laila Houseworth and Jadea Johnson each scored 12 points and collected five rebounds. Shakila Brownlow and Lily Hernandez each added nine points while Trajany Walker grabbed eight rebounds.
