In a long match-filled weekend for the Cyclones, they took one win in the Waubonsee Region Crossover Tournament Sept. 19-20.
SEPT. 19
The first matchup with Milwaukee Area Technical College saw Moraine Valley with strong momentum, winning the first two sets 25-18, 25-21. Then they got too comfortable and faltered to lose the last three: 23-25, 8-25, 10-15. Chloe McGregor-Paterson led with 18 kills followed by Amber Kingston with 13. Amanda Pocica collected 49 digs while Cameron Szyszka had 35 assists.
In their next matchup, the Cyclones faced an always tough Sauk Valley Community College, falling to the Skyhawks 13-25, 18-25, 19-25. Pocica amassed 21 digs while Szyszka had 22 assists.
SEPT. 20
The Cyclones continued the Crossover Tournament with a three-set loss to Carl Sandburg College: 12-25, 18-25, 23-25. Chloe McGregor-Paterson earned 12 kills while Szyszka had 19 assists and 11 digs.
In their final match of the tournament, the Cyclones ended on a high note and were able to defeat UW-Whitewater at Rock County in three quick sets: 25-15, 25-12, 25-13.
